In this next level needle felting workshop, creatives will learn the innovative techniquesthat are unique to Hollis’s fiber portrait practice. Students will first learn some basic drawing skills to map out their designs, plan a composition and learn about proportions and perspective. They will use that design as a guide and build up their portraits with Hollis’s felting techniques. Creatives will work with dyed and raw fibers and get the opportunity to work with Hollis’s powdered pigment palette to create an airbrush effect on their final piece. They will transform ananimal subject from a 2D photo to a 3D soft sculpture, painting with wool! This workshop values process over product. Hollis encourages anyone of any skill level to learn these techniques that can be mastered to create beautiful 3D soft sculptures!
