Talia Shenett, (more commonly known from her online presence as Butterknives_DEVO, is an 18 year old artist + musician living in Somerset, Massachusetts.
Online, she primarily posts her digitally-drawn art. She is fairly well known in the art and music community for providing “a concerning amount of DEVO fanart”, says composer + DEVO frontman Mark Mothersbaugh.
However, she will occasionally post some of her more “out of the box” works as well. But she prefers to save those pieces for gallery shows, like the one you are currently attending as you read this. (Thats right, I see you.)
She is also a self taught animator, and she has been practicing since the age of 8.
Heavily influenced by the works of Mark Mothersbaugh + Gary Baseman, Talia has made collections of countless numbers of doodles on little index cards and postcards. Her biggest artistic achievement is working with Mark himself on said postcards. He has been a fan of her work since 2022 and offered to collaborate.
“Most of the work that I do (that requires non-lyrical words) are often portrayals of how my brain operates vs how the world operates. Many things that make sense to everyone else don't make sense to me. I don’t think I'm better than anyone for being different, but I also don't understand living a life without expressing your individuality. I hope you find something of mine that tickles your fancy.”
