Stephen Brunelli (born 1978, Providence, Rhode Island) is a contemporary painter based in Providence, Rhode Island, USA. Known for his vivid color palette and textured canvases, Stephen’s work explores human emotions through a narrative and expressionistic style.
Stephen has exhibited in solo and group shows across New York City, Boston, and Providence. Working in the community, Stephen initiated an art program for Somali refugees, founded a community writer’s group at the local library, and completed several city-funded murals.
Traveling from New York City to Austin, Texas, selling this work on the street, Stephen gained a dedicated following of collectors, both in the US and Europe. He is currently a member of the Hotpoint Emporium Artist Coop in Bristol, Rhode Island, and recently completed an artist residency at Château Orquevaux in northeastern France.
Stephen is presently working on a new series of large-scale paintings for a June 2025 exhibition at the Collaborative Gallery in Warren, RI, focusing on themes of loneliness and isolation. Additionally, he is writing a fictional novel exploring time travel and dreams in an era of rapid technological advancement.
