Youth Writing Workshop Series

The Collaborative is excited to partner with Write Rhode Island for a three-week creative writing class for teens. In Fundamentals of Fiction, instructor Eve Kerrigan will teach the fundamentals of fiction including character, plot, setting, and theme. Class activities will include readings, discussions, in-class writing exercises, and workshopping. This course is designed for students with little experience through intermediate students. Classes will be held October 18, 25, November 1 from 3:30pm to 5pm

Write Rhode Island 

October kicks-off the annual Write Rhode Island short fiction competition for Rhode Island students in grades 7-12. The competition is open to all public, private, parochial or home-school students throughout the Ocean State. Winners will receive cash prizes, awards, and an opportunity to be published. Eligible entries should be a short work of fiction incorporating Rhode Island as a theme, and can be submitted November 20 - December 11, 2023.
